Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Olympia (lead vocals) decided back in 2008 to start a gothic/symphonic metal project which would synthethize all her musical experiences and influences, developing a sound both dramatic to match the theatrical dimension of lyrics she was writing, and powerful to have fun playing live. It took some years to find the right musicians and shape this kind of sound, until in 2014 Bleeding Zero settled on the current line-up and released a debut EP.
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
Our music can be basically labelled as gothic/symphonic metal, influenced by bands such as Nightwish, After Forever, Within Temptation, Tristania, Epica; but we also like to blend in elements from other metal sub-genres (progressive, power, melodic death), and of course we are a great deal influenced by classical music and opera, since 3 out of 6 band members had a classical musical education.
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
When composing our own songs, we aim for something we would like to hear on an album in the first place. We won’t say we are making a totally new kind of music, because nowadays no one really is, but we are trying to combine existing elements and influences in a distinctive way, so that listeners never get bored.
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
We have just released a promo-EP called “Scenophiliac” this summer, it’s in mp3 format only and downloadable for free on Soundcloud and Reverbnation. We are starting to get the first feedbacks both from press and public and we are happy to see positive reactions already on both sides.
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
We play live each time we have a chance, since live shows are our favourite part of being a band! We have been playing in venues and festivals in our region since our early years, and we are currently working on promotion to spread our music wherever we can.
What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
Labels should know we have a lot of kickass songs ready to be produced, promoters should know we can’t wait to rock stages all around the world, and zines should know how excited we are about reading reactions to our work. We make music with commitment and enthusiasm, aiming for a high-quality result as well as for having fun and thrilling our listeners. Plus, our vocalist bakes amazing cakes! :)
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
We are promoting our music via web to get people to know us, searching for live shows all around Italy, and we are thinking about finding a label to release a full length album.
Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
Our songs can be listened to and downloaded for free on www.soundcloud.com/bleedingzero and www.reverbnation.com/bleedingzero , you can also find them reposted on our facebook page (www.facebook.com/BleedingZero). There isn’t at the moment any printed copy of our EP “Scenophiliac” nor any merchandise to buy, we believe public deserves a free tasting of what we do before we ask them to pay for it.
