Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Careless was originally formed in the mid-eighties and after drifting apart we reunited in 2008 to revisit our old material as well as write new songs which appear on our debut album "Coalition” Careless is James Collins on Vocals and Drums, Walt Kosar on Guitar and Nolan Ayres on Bass.
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
Our music is best described as Old School Heavy Metal. Bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Queensryche, Rush, Tool and Ronnie James Dio were all a huge influences on us.
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
There are a lot of established old school metal bands that continue to write new music but very few new bands that play music in this genre. Our music takes the listener to a different place lyrically and gives our listeners the same felling of empowerment that we felt from our influences.
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
We recently released our debut album "Coalition” which has received a positive response from those who value musicianship, quality production and well-crafted songs. Below is an excerpt from a recent article.
"There’s nothing careless about the precise, well-played and well-sung music of the band Careless. It’s heavy, old-school ’80s-style rock, but not of the pop/metal or glam variety. This project comes at you with the blazing intensity of acts such as Iron Maiden, Queensryche and Dio.”
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
Careless would love to play live especially at some of the festivals in Europe where the type of music we play is extremely popular.
What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
What Careless offers is something different in terms of a return to musicianship and well crafted, well performed material. Our story is one of three friends who have reunited to record an album that is based on honesty and sincerity. There are no gimmics or smoke and mirrors this is real music for real people.
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
Continue to spread the message of Careless and continue to write and record music that comes from the heart. James Collins, Nolan Ayres and myself hope our listeners connect to our music in the same way we connected to the bands that influenced us.
