Please tell us a few words about the new release, about the music on it as a whole or a few words on each track in part. How are you happy with the final release?
Absolutely! We decided to experiment with a broader sound on this album, and the end result is a great mix of solid songs. We start of with The Grid, a modern groovy tune with lots of headbanging friendly parts. Next comes Virus, also the first video song we released from the album, which is a groove metal tune with a great hook and shout-along lyrics. Rust is a bass oriented song with lots of "americano" feel to it, while Never Alone is a real metal anthem duet with Maria Strandén (formely Therion). Feed The Fire is a real stomper that would make Phil Anselmo proud! Ignorance Divine is your typical run-of-the-mill Death Metal with a groovy twist, while Five Feet Down is an all guns blazing bullet train to the face. Cut Out From Hell is another catchy melodic death song that includes plenty of fast riffing. Pendulum Swing and Endgame are the soundtrack to the apocalypse, and finally; The Human Plague is what it's all about - groove death metal!
How would you describe/label the music on it? Does it sounds like anything we might have heard before?
I'd say that this is the missing link between Gothenburg melodic death metal (At the gates, In flames, Dark tranquility) and Southern state groove metal (Lamb of god, Pantera, Slipknot). You'll have a perfect mix of singing along and headbanging on all our gigs!
Where was it recorded and how much time did it take you to record it? Any interesting stories from the recording/producing the material?
Human Plague was recorded in Gothenburg Rock Studios, we started in october 2014 and had the master in february 2015, all in all it took us almost six months of late nights and long weekends. Working with studio engineer Daniel Antonsson was truly amazing, he added his own creativity and ideas to everything we did, him also being a bass player and a sound engineer, just like me, we had lots of musical exchange. Some things that happen in studio definitely stays in there ;) But check out our studio diary on youtube for some of the craziness that went on in the studio!
What can you tell us about the cover artwork? Is there a link between the artwork and the lyrics? What are the topics of your lyrics?
The cover art was an idea and a concept developed by us, it was designed and produced by Sam Hayles of DOSEprod. It's based around the old plague doctors and we've had a bunch of ideas around it, I even wrote a really short conceptual story.
What do you expect to gain through this release? What are the band's aims at the moment?
We hope to further establish ourselves as a solid contribution to the metal community. We like to claim that our style is a fresh addition to the already vast flora of great Gothenburgian metal, and so far the reviewers of the new album seem to agree with us. In the long run we hope to be on everybody's mind when the term "groove death metal" pops up!
Is there a special format the material is released in? Or is it released in multiple formats? How many copies were pressed?
There will be a CD but the album will also be distributed digitally over, among others, spotify.
Where and how will you promote this new release?
We're getting lots of help from Rambo Music, our label. Apart from that we're promoting the whole thing over facebook, instagram and youtube. We have two youtube channels, one filled with behinds the scenes, funny things we come across in our travels, tour diaries and studio diaries.
Where can we order it from?
We're taking pre-orders via our webpage at the moment, any one will be able to buy merchandise from us on our gigs and the album is sold throughout most record stores in Sweden. Don't worry though, if you don't live in Sweden and still would like to buy our stuff then just send us an e-mail and we'll try to help you!
