Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Detonator is a Swedish thrash metal band formed several years ago as a hobby project, originally with only two members, Anders Elfving & Viktor Sheffield. In the beginning of 2013 Jocke Lindström joined Detonator as lead guitarist. 2014 Henrik Ryftenius was recruited as basist/back vocalist and Jocke Wallgren (Valkyrja/Astrophobos/October Tide) joined as a session drummer.

How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
The musical platform has always primarily been based on thrash metal from the 80s and 90s, but with substantial influences from modern metal. It includes a variety of very fast riffs, heavier guitars and melodic compositions. Elaboration with different types of metal genres is something always considered when new material is created. Detonator has its roots in the thrash scene from the late 80´s. In our music you’ll find influences by Slayer, Kreator, Testament, Megadeth and many more.

Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
One question for all you metalheads out there: Do you wanna bang your head? If the answer is yes then let Detonator explode through your speakers!

What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
Broken Spine (2010), demo album
The Fragile Thought (2012), demo album
In Solitude - Reborn (2013), demo EP
The Burning Inferno (2015), EP
After being noticed by an A&R at AMX Europe the song Memories of a Broken Soul (from In Solitude - Reborn) was selected as track no1 on a freely distributed CD at Wacken Open Air 2013. Overall good response and contacts with labels and distrubitors. Some airtime on radio and good response from listeners. Voted band of the week at Metalcentral Oct 2015.

Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
Live as well as on the new EP we had the honour to play with Jocke Wallgren (Valkyrja) on drums. Our plans now is to take the live shows further with a new drummer. More activity will come with the release of the new EP.

What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
Everyone, from fans to labels ought to be interested in Detonator for the fact that we fill the void in the thrash scene today. You’ll get a raw primitive aggression with melodies that knock you to your ground.

What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
Spread the sound of “The Burning Inferno” and play live wherever it will take us.

Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
You’ll find Detonator on Spotify, iTunes, SoundCloud, Amazon, Deezer or where you buy and stream music nowadays. Visit or for more info!
