Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
We formed in 2009. We practiced for nearly 3 years before playing our first show. A few years later we decide to change our name to Drude and get a fresh start. IT FEELS GOOD! Corey and Jordan were new found friends and bonded over bands like Russian Circles, Isis, and Neurosis. I (Dyllen) stumbled into the mix. This was a new concept for me, but the vibe was unquestionable, and we've been jamming ever since!
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
My favorite part about our band is that we disregard any and all standards. We play what the hell we think sounds good. Don't get me wrong, we spend plenty of time nitpicking. We tend to write longer songs with 5 songs worth of riffs in them. HAHA. That's being dramatic, but really. We like peaks and valleys, and finding "THAT" riff.
The other thing I love about this band is the fact that we pull influence from any and everything we listen to. The three I mentioned about are great examples. Throw in some Job, Sleep, Tool, Converge, Elder, High on Fire, Pelican, Botch and few more seasonings, and you've got yourself a Drude stew.
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
It's genuine music. I think you'll like it. ;)
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
Our first album was released under an old name, I feel it was generally well received. We got a couple of bad reviews, but also some really awesome ones! The people that get it, get it. Decibel even threw us a bone!
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
Yes we play live. It's our favorite thing to do. We opened for Battlecross and Gwar once, and went over pretty well. I felt awesome. We also got to open for Mutoid Man. They were stupid good that night.
What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
I think if you really LISTEN to the music, you can here the hard work and care that goes into these songs. We really want to create a new head space for people to go to. You know those songs that take you to a specific time and place no matter when you listen to them? Even if you can't quite put your finger on when and where that place is, its there. Yeah, that. Drude, Dude!
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
Well, the plan is to really get out there and play new cities. We have the material, now its just a matter of putting our recourses together and showing it to people. It's time to put our dicks in the dirt. I think that appropriate here.
Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
We currently have two songs posted on our band camp! Drude.bandcamp.com The whole album will be available 3-3-17 on the same website. We are also working to get our merchandise available on Bandcamp by the release date. Currently, it is only available if you come see us play!
