Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
The band formed in 2002 in the greater Boston area with the intention of forging unique & brutal death metal. The band has undergone numerous lineup changes over the years, but the main focus has always remained the same. It's the passion for the music that matters in Dysentery.
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
Dysentery plays a violent fusion of guttural, grooving deathgrind fused with a punishing beat down hardcore attack. We affectionately call it 'death metal beat down,' others may call it 'slam.'
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
We offer much more than your average slam death metal band, bringing boatloads of catchy riffing and memorable grooves. A unique take on the tired and often over saturated genre, Dysentery has a different vision for a familiar sound.
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
The band has released a split album and 2 full lengths up to this point, and have gotten a great reception overall for our past efforts. We are always trying to satisfy our audience, old and new fans alike. We strive to create music that people like us would want to hear: bulldozingly heavy death metal.
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
We as a band strive to actively play all over North America as much as we can by way of touring and appearances at festivals all over. Our live shows generally result in violent and intense crowd participation that only adds to the band's ferocity. Overseas tour plans are on the horizon as well along with further US ventures.
What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
Dysentery is a brutal death metal band for fans of Suffocation, Devourment, Cannibal Corpse & more. We offer a fresh & unique approach to an often faceless genre of extreme music.
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
Dysentery is currently preparing for a west coast US tour this June with appearances at the Last Vegas Deathfest, dates throughout California, Salt Lake City & finishing up at the Colorado Gutfest. We will also be releasing our 3rd full length 'Fragments' on July 10th worldwide via Comatose Music. it is by far our most punishing slab of brutality to date.
