Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
The band formed in 2011 from a circle of friends coming from the same town: Crema, Italy.
We all studied and graduated in some of the best music academy in Italy, and this helped us a lot in playing and composing music.
In 2013 we recorded our first album "The Middle" and thanks to that we got in touch with Marco Coti Zelati, bass player, composer and co-founder of Lacuna Coil, who worked with us as producer for the self titled EP coming out in the next month.
In late 2015 we signed with the danish label Mighty Music/Target Group for the worldwide promotion and distribution of both the two works: "The Middle", released in January 2016 and the EP, coming soon.
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
We could describe it as Symphonic/Death metal, because it's a mix of modern metal with symphonic sonorities we have in our DNA as Italians. We all come from a different music background...Nick and Tommy comes from epic and power metal (also classical music for Tommy), Steven loves thrash and Richard always listened Metalcore and Progressive metal. We basically melded everything and that's how...
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
We think we are offering a very original product, and it's not only about music. We are creating and developing a big concept, working of course on music, but also on stories, illustrations and everything a metalhead (like us) loves!
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
We officially released "The Middle" on the 22nd of January 2016, and it's been well rated by zines / newspapers. We are really happy about that!
We just can't wait to release the EP, too, because we improved a lot in terms of song writing and quality!
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
Yes, we play a lot in our country, even if it's quite difficult to propose our style in a pop-used nation. But we also did a tour in Switzerland, France and Belgium so far.
What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
Everyone should know about the story we are telling with our music. Everything we write is part of a big concept and like it or not, everyone should at least try to understand.
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
We are about to record a new LP in may for a 2017 release, and we are so excited about that!
Meanwhile we are trying to plan a tour around Europe to promote "The Middle" and the EP.
We really can't wait to be on the road again!
Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
You can find a couple of official videos on Youtube just searching "Genus Ordinis Dei" plus random live videos.
Our album “The Middle” is available on every digital platform instead, if you’re more old school, and you just buy physical copies, just ask to your city's music shop to order it!
