Please tell us a few words about the new release, about the music on it as a whole or a few words on each track in part. How are you happy with the final release?
Robert-The new album was the hardest I've ever worked on a record. I can't speak for the rest of the guys but I can't be alone in stating that.
Jason-When recording records yourselves, with your own input to guide you, you have no deadline. if you want to change something, its really never too late, til you can sign off on the idea that it is a finished product. Its a leisure to be able to make records on your own.
Robert-We are very happy with how the record turned out .This record was special for me and Billy in particular. Before I joined IGNITOR, guess what? They were my favorite local metal band. So in a lot of ways, I know for myself personally and also for Billy, joining IGNITOR and doing this album; in a lot of ways we had a lot to prove. To ourselves and everyone here at home and abroad. I think this new album really defines the current lineup as a force to be reckoned with!
How would you describe/label the music on it? Does it sounds like anything we might have heard before?
Robert-From the very first track it will leave the listener jarred and unprepared for what comes next. It's unrelenting in it's aural assault. We wanted to murder the naysayers with our metal. This is an album metal fans can be proud of cranking up! It's not modern or foreign sounding ,sticking to classic styles. We're not reinventing the wheel, so to speak. We just wanted to release a heavy metal album that would fucking kill on command.
Where was it recorded and how much time did it take you to record it? Any interesting stories from the recording/producing the material?
Robert-We recorded at lead guitarist Stuart Laurence's home studio. The recording process from start to finish spanned from early 2015 up until just a few months ago.
Jason-We took our time writing and recording the material for this . We had to spit out a video before we played some festivals, to use for promotion, so there was time taken to do that.We have spent the last year working on the record, being writing new parts for the final songs or mastering a few tracks. We hope to have a summer 2017 release.
What can you tell us about the cover artwork? Is there a link between the artwork and the lyrics? What are the topics of your lyrics?
Jason-The cover art will be put together more likely from ideas and images that the lyrics would portray. Some titles are "Throw them from the Cliff', Haunted", "Leather Forever"...I think you can get the idea.
What do you expect to gain through this release? What are the band's aims at the moment?
Robert-I expect that all of the really dedicated, record collecting, denim vest wearing, concert attending metal masses will purchase and enjoy it. They will tell their friends who in turn will tell their friends.Keep in mind we are an underground American heavy metal band. No one is expecting the new album to win a Grammy or a touring support slot for Metallica. As long as people keep supporting IGNITOR and attending our shows and buying our records we are getting everything out of this that we are putting in, as far as I'm concerned. Our aim is to continue for as long as we are able.
Is there a special format the material is released in? Or is it released in multiple formats? How many copies were pressed?
Jason-Multiple formats,Vinyl and CD. Digital of course.
Where and how will you promote this new release?
Robert-This is very simple to address. You ever seen the movie Field of Dreams? You know "If you build it, they will come?" We're the same way. You wanna book us to come and perform at your club or your festival? Have guitar. Will travel. We have never turned down a reasonable offer to invade a new territory. Get in touch, I'd love to perform for the metal fans where you live.
Where can we order it from?
Robert-Thank you for your interest in IGNITOR. I've read Pest webzine for years and I really appreciate everything you do for underground metal. Without people who are so passionate about metal to write about it and follow it, the scene would stagnate. What you're doing is totally righteous brother. Everyone stay tuned to ignitorband.com and we will have more details where to purchase when the new album drops this Summer. Thanks again and see you all soon!
