Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Well, the band was formed in 2006. It was an idea that was floating in my mind for a long time: be in a real death metal band. So I asked Guliano (I played with him in another band some years ago) to join this project. Problem was to find a drummer, so it took a while until a good friend of us recommended Yesid. We rehearsed and the decision was made, he became part of the band. The last member to join Infection was Yuri; with his inclusion in the bass role we were ready not only to practice our material but also to perform in some local venues. Unfortunately, our former drummer departed the band last year so a new member incorporated the Infection family: Sebastián. So, we’re still on the road!
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
Basically we play traditional death metal. We also have strong influences from the thrash and grindcore scene, it’s good to enriches your music with different streams of metal. Concerning bands we think have influenced our style, we will definitively name Cannibal Corpse, Monstrosity and, of course, Death.
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
Because we play honest, brutal and direct metal that can make you headbang like hell!
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
"Nothing but scum", our first album, was recorded at Hellcat studios with the help of Félix Silva (from the local band Trauma). This six-song EP allowed the band to participate regularly in concerts on the capital. On 2009, our full-length album "Necrokindergarden" saw the light. This albums has a particular story, we wanted to released it in physical format but due to the high costs of manufacturing (it’s a pain in the arse to record, produce and distribute death metal in Peru) we decided to launch the album digitally in our website. This method allowed us to reach a worldwide audience and receive good responses from countries that we weren’t be able to reach if a CD was on the market. In the end, it was a good decision, we’re happy with the results.
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
Since our formation we’ve performed regularly in Lima. We also had the chance to visit the Northern coast of Peru to participate in a nice gig with great bands form Trujillo. You know, this is a great moment for the Peruvian metal scene, there are a lot of concerts going on in different parts of the country, and this is a great phenomenon.
What should labels / zines / promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
We think most people in the world don’t know exactly what’s going on South America and, concretely, on Peru. When we send our material overseas, their first though goes to early Sepultura and Sarcófago. When they hear the entire album they got a surprise because our music is rooted in the American nineties death metal scene. That makes me think we’re not making enough effort to make clear that there’s a big and diverse scene here in South America. So, we would like labels and zines wanting to know what’s going on in these lands would like to hear our music.
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
Band is actually creating songs for their next production. Music is already done, lyrics are on the way but we need to rehearse a lot because we’re going, musically, toward a more complex path. We’re pushing our limits as musicians, creating nice arrangements, composing more thoroughly and at the same time retaining the brutality. It’s a hard but invigorating task.
Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
