Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
The band was formed at the beginning of time when I emerged from the eruption of a volcano containing metal and steel. For years I walked the earth, searching for the most metal immortal warriors I could find. The entire story is quite the tale, and is probably too long for this interview. However, if any mortals wish to read the odyssey, they may click on the "bio" section at our website, www.LordsOfTheTrident.com.
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
Mortals have described us as a blend of 80s-influenced traditional heavy metal akin to the music of Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Dio, etc. Due to the fact that we've been around since the dawn of time, and have been playing pure metal forever, it's always difficult to answer the "who are we influenced by" question. However, I would say that there are certain bands who are paying an homage to Lords of the Trident, whether they know it or not. Bands like Maiden, Priest, Dio, Savatage, Dokken, etc. We also enjoy listening to more modern metal bands like Scar Symmetry as well!
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
Take out your entire CD collection and burn it in a pit, because we are the most metal band on earth. No one can stand up to our metal. It is the purest, most true form of metal music ever conceived, so if you like the sound of battle, explosions, fire, death, condensed down into a musical experience, you can do no better than Lords of the Trident. Our metal is so pure that only diamonds can scratch it, and the diamonds are the ones who usually get hurt in the end.
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
We have released five albums so far - "Death or Sandwich" in 2009, "Chains on Fire" in 2011, "Plan of Attack" in 2013, "A Very Lords of the Trident Christmas" in 2013, and finally "Frostburn", which is coming out on 2/13/15. All of the reviewers who have survived listening to the albums (many have instantly died upon pressing play) have praised us as being the most amazing thing they have ever heard in their lives. Many have cut off their own ears after listening to the album, convinced that they will never, ever hear anything greater. 10/10.
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
Oh yes, a warrior is not a TRUE warrior unless he tests his skill in battle! We tour around quite often, and play many battles in many different cities. We are always on the hunt to play new, exciting locations and slay more unworthy warriors. Since the band reformed in late 2008, we've played over 177 battles, and killed over 86,000 people.
What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
If a promoter, label, or zine is not interested in Lords of the Trident, then they must be terribly unworthy, and would instantly die in battle if they faced us. Either that, or perhaps they're afraid of facing the might of the LORDS, and would prefer to pretend that we do not exist. Fear can do many things to the hearts of men. I dare any labels to throw their strongest bands at the LORDS. They will not survive. I promise you that.
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
We have just been recently signed by Killer Metal Records out of Germany, so we're looking into logistics about potentially doing a European tour. We'll have to see what restrictions they have on international shipping large amounts of stage props, axes, and sets of armor. Our best album ever - Frostburn - is coming out on 2/13/15, and we've released a music video for our first single "Winds of the Storm" which you can view here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANouZi7L6g4
We are also planning on producing 2-3 more videos from the album, so stay tuned!
