Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Lucifer’s Fall was formed by myself (Deceiver-Bass and Vocals) in 2013. I was joined by Unknown Unnamed (Drums) and The Mother Superior (Guitars and Vocals). We recorded a rough rehearsal demo (Dungeon Demos) in 2013. Following this The Mother Superior left and I worked on recording all the music and vocals for the debut album before getting Unknown Unnamed to add his drum parts. We self released the debut CD in 2014 before Hammerheart records re-released it in 2015. In 2015 we also became a five piece. The line up at the moment is Deceiver (Vocals), Unknown Unnamed (Drums), The Mother Superior (Rhythm Guitar), Cursed Priestess (Bass) and The Invocator (Lead Guitar). With this line up we recorded the Dungeon Demos II and the just released Fuck You We’re Lucifer’s Fall EP. At the moment the EP is only available as a download and a limited edition cassette. We are hoping to find a label interested in putting it out on other formats.
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
Our style is traditional Doom and Heavy metal. The biggest influences would be Saint Vitus, Reverend Bizarre, The Lamp Of Thoth/Arkham Witch, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motorhead, Mercyful Fate. There are many other most being 80’s traditional metal bands or recent traditional doom bands.
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
You should buy it because it’s real Heavy metal!!! If you are not such a fan of the modern over-processed produced sound and you want some old school sounding metal and doom then you could do worse than listen to us. It’s important to support bands whoever they may be by buying a physical copy or a download as it’s very difficult to get close to breaking even for most bands.
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
We have released in order Dungeon Demos (2013-Download), Lucifer’s Fall (debut album 2014- Hammerheart re-release 2015 CD/Vinyl), Dungeon Demos II (2015-Download), Fuck You We’re Lucifer’s Fall (Limited Cassette-2015).
In general the releases have been received very well. We had a number of people interested in releasing the debut album and had generally excellent reviews once it came out. We had small features in Zero Tolerance magazine and Decibel magazine. We sold quite a few of the self released debut in 2014 and we sold out the new cassette in a few weeks. We just got our first review for the Fuck You EP and it was excellent and people that have heard it have been very positive about it.
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
We haven’t played live yet but have been rehearsing as a five piece for a while now. We are pretty much ready to start performing live once we organize/get offered a gig.
What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
What they should know has been pretty much covered in the previous questions. They should be interested because we offer something a bit different to what is generally around at the moment. There’s a bit of room for a band that plays this style well at the moment. There is a lot of stoner/sludge doom around at the moment. We stand apart from that and play a style that is based in the 80’s heavy metal and the doom of Reverend Bizarre/Saint Vitus. I think it’s a good mix.
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
In the near future we hope to start playing live. We are also in rehearsals for the second album titled II: Cursed & Damned. We have 8 songs ready to go. It’s a little more up-tempo than the recent EP with shorter songs but still the same style mix of doom and heavy metal. We hope to go in a record it mid 2016 with a quick release to follow (hopefully).
