Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
It’s all about having fun. Me (Matheus Manente) and Jon Du Bose have been recording together for acts such as Chris Violence and Hours at Hand. After a while, we decided to team up and create a band with vocalist Jesus Alonzo, which is an extremely talented guitarist as well. He created tales of horror for the lyrics and we loved it. Jon had the initial ideas for our songs. So the band was set, and we started doing our music with absolutely no compromises.
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
Most of our music could be described as heavy metal with a touch of progressive elements, going back to Fates Warning, Queensrÿche and even King Diamond if you take the lyrics in consideration. But we also managed to include a twelve-tone opening (Twelve Gates), an ambient interlude (Portals) and even louisiana blues mixed with a brazilian rhythm called forró (Yemanja). So there’s plenty of material to explore.
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
There’s many elements that a metalhead will definitely enjoy – Violent tones, headbanging drums, clever social criticism, shredding guitar solos, killer high pitched voices... But again, we’re doing an album with absolutely no compromises, and we're not trying to sound like any other band. So if you’re a square metalhead who do not like deviations from the classic formulas, this may not be for you.
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
The feedbacks we received so far are great! We’re getting many reviews and publications, and most of the people smile and reference their favourite bands when they hear our music. I think this is the easiest way to express their excitement, so we take it as a huge compliment.
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
Right now, we do not play live, because we live in different countries. I’m in Brazil, Jon and Jesus are in different parts of the United States, so we never really meet each other in person. That’s why M.A.D. is currently a studio project for recording and releasing music. Never say never, though! I’d love to play a gig if we ever get the chance to do so.
What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
Because we are fueled with passion for defying the rules and creating our own thing. Plus, modesty apart, this is one hell of a good album. I think we all exceeded at what we had done so far. People who are looking for heavy metal that sounds fresh and different, like a modern take on the classics, will find refugee in our music.
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
Right now, we are trying to spread the word and take our music to as much people as possible, because we think it’s worth it. We have a message and we want it to be heard. Apart from that, I expect to start writing new material with Jon and Jesus soon, but it will take a while to release a second album.
