MATT CHANWAY
Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
This is a solo instrumental project in the progressive metal style, that I have put together as a side project from my main band, death/thrash metal act Assimilation. This project consists of instrumental compositions in the progressive/shred style that I have written over the last couple of years.
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
Punishing, high-energy progressive metal with contrast of darkness and light, and guitar virtuoso influences. I am influenced by old-school progressive metal and thrash such as Nevermore, Circus Maximus, Symphony X, Aghora, Revocation etc.
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
If they want a break from the homogenous nature of today’s progressive metal, and want some high-energy instrumental music with catchy riffs and ambitious arrangements and guitar solos.
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
So far only my debut, self-titled full-length album. It has received some very good reviews from publications such as Prog Sphere Magazine and Rock Era Magazine.
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
I play live with Assimilation, we are gearing up for our tour supporting our new full-length album “The Laws of Power” dropping March 2017!
What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
This album is a unique mix of old-school thrash/progressive/shred metal, as well as some modern touches as well. The tracks are intricately crafted and anyone who is into high-energy insane composition and playing will dig this album for sure.
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
I am currently working on a follow-up album, continuing to write and record with Assimilation, and will be releasing a playthrough video of a track from my debut soon.
Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
My album can be streamed on Apple Music/Spotify, and purchased on iTunes, Google Play, Amazon, and others including my own Bandcamp site (mattchanway.bandcamp.com).
