Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Mortanius, originally comprised of only Lucas (vocals/guitars), Victor (drums), and Eric (bass), formed after their high school band broke up. The three started playing music that was progressive, yet contained various gothic and symphonic elements. Performing in and around the Philadelphia area, Mortanius prepared to record their first single, "The Wave". It was released in February of 2014, to acclaim amongst fans. A few months after the release, Eric departed from the band, leaving the bass spot unattended. This led to Jesse Shaw, from Beyond Black Skies of Philadelphia, taking Eric's place. Mortanius released their first EP titled "Ethereal Waltz" in August 2014. Then "Savage Garden", Mortanius' second EP, was released in May of 2015.

How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
If Symphony X was less talented and watched more horror films. Mortanius' influences include Angra, Dream Theater, Symphony X, Circus Maximus, Moi Dix Mois, Galneryus, Nox Arcana, various horror movie soundtracks.

Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
A metalhead should buy Mortanius' releases because its quality unique music that had a lot of time and effort put into it, and people in general should pay for music instead of downloading it. Musicians deserve to be paid for their work.

What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
Mortanius has released two EPs so far. Both have been well received, though there hasn't been much media attention due to Mortanius lacking much of a presence in the music world at this point in our career.

Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
We play live often. So far we mostly shows in the Philadelphia PA, and Trenton NJ area.

What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
Labels/zines/promoters should be interested in Mortanius because we have a unique and ambitious sound that's hard to completely classify.

What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
We are preparing to record a third EP, then we are going to work on a full length.

Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
Our music can be listened to on both youtube and bandcamp (search for Mortanius), and our music can be purchased on bandcamp.
