Please tell us a few words about the new release, about the music on it as a whole or a few words on each track in part. How are you happy with the final release?
"Digging Mercy's Grave" is actually our band's debut album so you can understand our uncertainty with the outcome of it's release. Fortunately, we've had nothing but overwhelming encouragement and positive feedback from our listeners. It makes us extremely happy to see all of the support from our fans for doing what we love.
How would you describe/label the music on it? Does it sounds like anything we might have heard before?
We would describe it as highly aggressive core style metal with a melodic groove. Our main objective has always been to write material that would not only be exciting musically, but have a strong emphasis on crowd involvement. A lot of focus is placed on heavy downbeats that arrive from anticipation building rhythms. We have been described as sort of a "gateway band" in the sense that our music compels even fans of other genres to appreciate and love metal as much as we do. We all have our own individual musical influences but collectively we are heavily influenced by Lamb of God, Slipknot, Hatebreed, etc.
Where was it recorded and how much time did it take you to record it? Any interesting stories from the recording/producing the material?
"Digging Mercy's Grave" was recorded by our good friend Byron Filson at Villain Recording in Phoenix Arizona. The entire duration of the albums recording took almost two weeks, however the timing was split up into two separate sessions. The first half of the album was recorded in February of last year for the March release of our self titled EP and the second half was recorded in November completing our full length. Right in the middle of the CD, in the maelstrom of all the heavy chaos, is a track titled "Tranquil" which was actually written by our guitar player, Nate Garrett when he was 14 years old.
What can you tell us about the cover artwork? Is there a link between the artwork and the lyrics? What are the topics of your lyrics?
The cover art for "Digging Mercy's Grave" was created by Justin Weiss from FortGraphics.com. The image is a daunting looking graveyard with an empty grave and a headstone with "Mercy" engraved into it. It actually has a connection with our song "Tombstones" that essentially describes the death of an empathetic forgiveness or mercy. The album consists lyrically of several relatable life situations of overcoming adversity and mistreatment. The song meanings can collectively be summed up as a from of self empowerment. Many different clever and elongated ways of saying go fuck yourself.
What do you expect to gain through this release? What are the band's aims at the moment?
Honestly, now that the album is released it's really what is expected of us from our fans. We realize that now is the time to grind harder than ever to take things to the next level for ourselves. We're constantly honing our craft and investing time and money into our project to continue to grow. In the near future we plan on a national tour as well as the release of our first studio produced music video. 2017 looks to be a promising year for us, and we plan on taking full advantage of all of the opportunities that come our way.
Is there a special format the material is released in? Or is it released in multiple formats? How many copies were pressed?
The album was released in multiple formats. It's available on all of the major digital music platforms such as iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Google Play, etc. as well as a physical CD. We started out with 100 CD's but after our series of album release shows we had to restock for our online store.
Where and how will you promote this new release?
Well, aside from this interview we have received radio play from Phoenix Arizona's 98KUPD "Into The Pit", been featured in Stencil Magazine and Coachella Valley Weekly, submitted our material to multiple internet radio stations and are constantly promoting our release on all of our social media accounts.
Where can we order it from?
