Please tell us a few words about the new release, about the music on it as a whole or a few words on each track in part. How are you happy with the final release?
Our new album is titled "Gore Whores On The Killing Floor". While our debut release ("Hacked To Perfection") was a nod to classic death metal with a modern perspective, "Gore Whores On The Killing Floor" is firmly planted in the now. The songs are a bit shorter and we made an effort to have more non repetitive parts in each song. The mix is also more current sounding. All the while we tried to make sure to not lose touch with our roots. We are very happy with the release because we had the majority of control over the process.
How would you describe/label the music on it? Does it sounds like anything we might have heard before?
The music on "Gore Whores On The Killing Floor" is death metal. Never To Arise is strictly a death metal band. While there are many influences that we have, we don't think we sound like anybody in particular.
Where was it recorded and how much time did it take you to record it? Any interesting stories from the recording/producing the material?
The album was recorded at our respective home studios. Gordon Denhart recorded his vocals and guitars at his home, and I (Michael Kilborn) did the lead guitars and bass at my house. I also mixed and mastered the album at my home studio. It took about a year to record and another two years to get it released. We and Dave Lindley (Executive Producer) were not happy with the first person assigned to mix us. We didn't see eye to eye, and he was unbending. After some months of deliberation, he was dismissed. Gordon suggested to Dave maybe I should give it a try (I had mixed the demos) and eventually the chores went to me.
What can you tell us about the cover artwork? Is there a link between the artwork and the lyrics? What are the topics of your lyrics?
The artwork is consistent with most of the subject matter in our lyrics. When people read the song titles, they'll get a good idea of what the music is about.
What do you expect to gain through this release? What are the band's aims at the moment?
We'd like to get the same critical acclaim that we received on the first album. We also wouldn't mind making a little beer money off of it either. Firmly knowing that nobody gets rich playing death metal. As for anything else, we are in "wait and see" mode.
Is there a special format the material is released in? Or is it released in multiple formats? How many copies were pressed?
It is available in CD and digital formats. I don't know how many copies were pressed.
Where and how will you promote this new release?
Our label (Cimmerian Shade Recordings) handles most of the promotional duties. Others are done through airplay, social media, and interviews such as this.
Where can we order it from?
