Please tell us a few words about the new release, about the music on it as a whole or a few words on each track in part. How are you happy with the final release?
Our self titled debut album has been recorded almost two years back in time, so we had a lot of thoughts already on this release.
Basically you can hear a development within songs but without denying the trademaks of the old release of NOCTURNE. I even think we took our trademarks like the epic atmosphere, the clean/sung vocals or the straight work on battery on a higher level.
What made us very proud is the fact that Dan Swanö could be recruited to sing a song on this album, a crushing cover version of DE INFERNALI's 'Sign Of The Dark'.
How would you describe/label the music on it? Does it sounds like anything we might have heard before?
I guess the album is a very dark one in our own unique style with the trademarks mentioned above.
Where was it recorded and how much time did it take you to record it? Any interesting stories from the recording/producing the material?
We recorded this album at two different studios. Vocals, guitars and bass were nailed at Soundtempel Studio (GER) and battery was done at KK Studios (AUT). The whole recording process took us almost a year but we can say that we are very happy with our decision not to work with deadlines but to develop our music and lyrical themes.
What can you tell us about the cover artwork? Is there a link between the artwork and the lyrics? What are the topics of your lyrics?
Cover artwork as well as all other artwork for this release was made by CEETHAVA, a very talented artist who also designed the artwork of our coming shirt. (www.facebook.com/ceethava.art)
On the cover artwork you can see the majestic nightsky on which a winged skeleton is riding, carrying Nahash and an inverted cross, beneath purgatory. This artwork links NOCTURNE as a whole with Death, Satan and Hell.
Our lyrics generally are dealing with the Left Hand Path, to be more precise there are links to Chaosgnosticism, Setianism as well as dark mesopotamian heritage.
What do you expect to gain through this release? What are the band's aims at the moment?
Our inner need is to create dark art for a higher purpose than to be famous or gain money. Of course it would be nice if NOCTURNE would be a band reaching more people to spread the word of truth among those still walking this earth blindy.
This is also the reason why we decided to evolve to a unity that will show its presence live.
Is there a special format the material is released in? Or is it released in multiple formats? How many copies were pressed?
Our debut album will be released as a limited edition digipak of 1000 pieces, including a twelve sided booklet. If there will be a vinyl release is in the hands of our label, but of course we would appreciate that.
Where and how will you promote this new release?
We hope our label UNLIGHT Productions will help us with that. Of course we will try do some things on our own, but to have a label that supports you helps a lot. Right now we have released a professional video for the song 'Into The Great Below' on YouTube and Facebook, and also an album teaser. We also contacted a few magazines to review our debut album.
