OMEGA DIATRIBE

Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Omega Diatribe was formed in 2008 by guitarist Gergő Hájer (ex-SyCo I) and bassist Ákos Szathmáry (ex-Blindfold). At the beggining we rehearsed with one of our good friend Jeromos Nagy who’s played on drums. On 2010 Jeromos Nagy left the band and the guys found a new drummer, Dávid Metzger from the band called Horda and the second guitarist Attila Császár from the band, Stopyt. After bags of searching Gergely Komáromi joined the band as a vocalist, so Omega Diatribe’s became a whole in 2011. The firs publicaion was in the end of 2012 with 3 demo songs. After years of hard working we released our full-length debut album called IAPETUS on October 21, 2013. The studio works was 100% self-made. Mixed and mastered by the band’s guitarist Gergő Hájer (Me). After releasing IAPETUS, the band gets more attention worldwide too. The album finished on the second place of ’The year best debut album’ vote by the Hungarian HangSúly. After a lot of concerts the band was split ways with their drummer Dávid Metzger. We released a brand new song called ’Hydrozoan Periods’ on June 16, 2014 featuring the American drummer Kevin Talley. The song was banged worldwide, so we made a full EP with Kevin. In the early of 2015 finally we found our new fix drummer Tommy Kiss.

How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
Our music is mainly influenced by the 90's-early 2000's metal scene with some modern taste.
The all-time favourite bands are the following: Slipknot, Crowbar, Meshuggah, Korn, Tool, Machine Head (old)...by the way we also influenced by psychedelic dub, drum & bass and goa music.
We try to mix the psychedelic tunes with the super-heavy groovy stuffs.

Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
If you like true music, not the mainstream way and you feel the grooves it's definitely for you! If you still buy CDs, I'm sure you'll like all of our releases. We released the albums in the old school way. CD with a nice booklet and jewelcase or multipaneled digipak. Check it out at http://omegadiatribe.bandcamp.com

What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
Our full-lenght debut album 'IAPETUS' was released on October 21th of 2013. After we split ways with our drummer David, we dropped out a single featuring Kevin Talley on June 16th of 2014. Our brand new record 'Abstract Ritual' was released on February 26th of 2015, so it's still hot, check it out! Fortunately the feedbacks from the public/media is surprisingly awesome! Therefore, we're happy as hell...We worked hard on all of our releases.

Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
Yeah, we had many concerts here in Hungary. When our drummer is quit we had to take a little break, becouse we wanted such an amazing drummer, 'cuz good band's basic is a good drummer! :) So we had to found it...Now we're get back to the business.

What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
Our grooves are more stronger in live than a record. The band's got an interesting atmoshpere  that the crowd are usually like it. What can I say... check out the band and the music and if you can feel it, do not hesitate to contact us!

What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
Play many concerts and try to go outside of our country! We want to spread our music as far as we can.
