Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Plutonium was formed in 2003 as a vehicle for MR J´s creativity. 2004 the ”Wind of change” demo was released and (now defunct) Khaoz Star Records signed the band. The debut album ”One size fits all” was released in 2007 and shortly after that release, Plutonium became an one man act. 2011 the second album ”Devilmentertainment non-stop” was released after years of sorrow and misfortune. 2013 MR J celebrated the 10th year of existence of Plutonium with a remastered digital version of ”Wind of change” and also, another digital release called ”A decade of indifference 2003-2013” with four exclusive new tracks. And now, 2016, ”Born again misanthrope” arrives with nine new tracks.
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
I would describe it as industrial extreme metal. Bands that influenced me in the beginning were bands like SATYRICON, MAYHEM, DÖDHEIMSGARD, MYSTICUM and BATHORY. But also pure industrial/ambient bands like BRIGHTER DEATH NOW, NO FESTIVAL OF LIGHT etc. But I guess these are not the only influences since I´ve been playing guitar for more than 25 years now and started out with bands as IRON MAIDEN, KISS, JUDAS PRIEST, KREATOR, METALLICA etc as my biggest inspiration sources...
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
Hopefully Plutonium offers something original and interesting, and something which you can´t find in other bands... at least that´s what I hope for. Well, if you want something brutal with an industrial touch, why not try PLUTONIUM?
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
Mostly I have received good critics, and happily better for each new release. Of course there has been some negative writings as well, but you can´t win them all, and I´m not aiming for that either. I appreciate peoples' honest opinions! Criticism can be very important, you might find something valuable there...you can´t expect everyone to love you, can you?
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
Since Plutonium is a one man band it is impossible for me to perform live. I wouldn´t exclude the possibilities of future live performances, but for the moment it´s not a top priority. But one never knows...
What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
I hope everyone, whether they are representing a label, zine or whatever, who hears of Plutonium and get interested in the band take their time to listen to the music and make their own opinion. Why people should be interested in my music? I hope people find something in my music which they can´t find in other bands as I said earlier. Hopefully someone can enjoy it, and if don´t – well, there are a couple of other bands out there you can listen to instead of PLUTONIUM.
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
For the moment I´ll focus on spreading the new album as much as possible but I am constantly writing music and making melodies/riffs, so I guess it´s inevitable that some new stuff will be created now as well. But no serious plans except that, at least not for the moment. After all, writing, recording and mixing more than 50 minutes of new music definitely takes its´ time.
