Please tell us about the history of your band and its members
Ok, long story, but let’s try to keep it short… Shrapnel Storm was formed about ten years ago when our drummer Mikko and his pal Matti were jamming together and started to seek some musicians to join the group. Aki (guitarist) was the first to join, and after that things started to roll. Soon after that Pete (bass) joined the band and Tohtori Makitalo a while later. Unfortunately Matti decided to quit the band in 2011, and we started to search for a new vocalist. Ykä joined the group, and that’s where who we are now. The band name was established 2007, and our first demo was released 2008, so we have some history over here.

How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
We play old school death metal in the spirit of 90’s Florida death metal bands. If you’ve ever heard of Obituary, Bolt Thrower or Benediction we guess you might like our stuff also. There’s also a long list of other influencing bands, but some are saying those are the closest ones regarding our sound!

Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
Nowadays there is lot of new bands doing death metal, but none of them are doing it in the spirit we do. Our sound is 90’s death metal updated to new level and songs are groovy and catchy. Go and check the free samples from youtube etc. and love it!

What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
We’ve released three demos, one promo and our debut full length. There is some reviews from our debut (Mother War) and shortly said, those have been brilliant. There’s still a lots of feedback incoming, but the start has been extremely good!

Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
Yes we do. We’ve done about 30…40 shows thus far and currently booking our calendar for Autumn 2015. The reception has been good, and it has been nice to see there is actually starting to be diehard fans in our gigs also!

What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
We have a long history together, but considering to most of the media people we’re a new band. So we’re old but new, haha! In fact, that’s how our music could be described at the moment. We haven’t been inventing the bicycle, but we’ve discovered a new way how to ride it. So if they like the old school Florida stuff, catchy riffs and don’t want it to sound like someone had recorded it through a pillow in a basement, we suggest them to give a try!

What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
As we’re underground, there is not currently any plans to make a headliner world tour, haha! It would be killer to sell out our first batch of cd’s, play a lot of shows and to be invited to play abroad as well. We guess after these are accomplished, we start to make new songs and release it some day. The day is not gonna be in 2015, though!

Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
We’re quite active in social media, so our facebook page is the best place to get the latest info. So head up over there: If you’re not in FB, our official page can be found from:
