There are less and less bands with full line-up nowadays, most of them are one man operations, and I blame this partly on the Covid situation that kept all of us more or less in isolation for 2 years. Polish Soulcarrion is not a one man project, but a duo, and if we count the session apparition of Sibila on vocals, plus his (or hers?) work on all the lyrics of this album we might have a trio. The two steady members of the band are Michal (guitar, bass, drum programming) and Greg (guitar; is he the same Greg as the owner of Godz ov War?) and apparently they got together in or before 2019 as the 9 tracks featured here were written and recorded between 2019 and 2022. Half an hour of brutal, raw sounding, fast paced and uncompromising Death Metal a la Sinister defined by intense riffing, guttural vocals, double-bass led drumming, and on some tracks, what is also my favorite element in Soulcarrion's music, insane and chaotic long solos that remind me of the old Floridian Death Metal scene. The fact that the drums are programmed and not played by a real drummer might sound suspicious for fans of old-school Death Metal, I can say they don't sound annoyingly synthetic at all, so have no fear! A brutal, consistent, convincing debut album, hope it gets followed by a new opus soon to consolidate this first impression, and I also hope they'll increase the use of those slick solos and leads, too.
