Title: Through Crying Souls I See What I Was...
Label: Cult of Parthenope
Year: 2006 (re-release 2020)
Style: Black Metal
Unless CoP is preparing a come-back by this Italian one man band soon, I couldn't see a reason of re-releasing a demo that was initially out on limited edition cassette in 2006. This until I played it and it made sense, Lord Lemory, the man behind Tenebra, and his crew of session musicians did a remarkable job on these 6 tracks (25 minutes of playing time) building a fast, aggressive, sharp and at the same time melodic and technical Black Metal with organic production to back it up, Doomy variations, constant rhythm changes, memorable passages, outbursts of intense, hateful Black Metal, a few Heavy and Thrash Metal hints here and there, some Pagan-like passages, basically a no-nonsense Extreme Metal played with conviction and passion, and the listener can feel that. The guitar work is the highlight of Tenebra's music, although I wouldn't oversee the drumming either. Very good demo, can't wait to see what's in store for this band in the near future, and hopefully there is something like that in works.
