Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
We started out in the small-town of Linköping in 2005. We had this band called Roswell that we ended up putting to rest as we wanted to do a more esoteric and sweeping mystics sounding thing - hence we started Tid. At the same time roughly, we started a band called MCC [Magna Carta Cartel] which is more pop/rock but with the same kind of mystical vibe. Later yet, some of us went on to play in Ghost.
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
Oh, lots. Mostly its a matter of music far from what we sound like. It’s basically us trying to sound like some grand orchestra from another dimension - all with the help of guitars, drums bass and vox and some synths. So in the sense of the instrumentations there are lots of influences, but when it comes to the music itself i.e. the tonality or how the songs go, our influences is everything from classical music to modern pop to black metal to Goa Trance.
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
Well, if for no other reason - he is tired of being just a metalhead and live by a law that tells him what to listen to. Its fun to evelove and discover new things. And in a sense - aren’t all metal albums already recorded? Doesn’t all metalheads in a sense have all metal albums ever done and to come? There is time yet to come out of the loop.
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
We’ve released 3 EP’s: ”Bortom Inom” (2007), ”Giv Akt” (2010) and ”Fix Idé” (2016). The public response have been great and people seem to have listened and been astounded or at least surprised, which makes us happy - as we could nor would not know if we did anything appealing at all: the music we create gives us great pleasure when hearing as we make music we ourselves would like to listen to, and it just seemed that it appealed to a lot of others too. So maybe we managed to bind some actual magic to the songs and art that actually radiates to listeners, old or young.
Regarding the media we have had a bunch of great reviews, but then again this band has been operating very much in the shadows and we have never had a proper PR or record label until just recently. So you tell us. ; )
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
We have played live once, in our hometown. We set up at gig ourselves where the idea was to make it more like an artexperience - and it turned out very very well. We had a blast. Just some weeks before or after that we had started to do live gigs with Ghost - and since then there hasn’t been time for live performances with Tid, to put it mildly.
What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
Depending on what zine, promoter or label, and what their aim to produce or market or gig to set up, they should check us out because of us not sounding or feeling like no one else. Of course we will remind people of lots of things, and sometimes or actually most often things that we haven’t even heard ourselves, and sadly sometimes something we are far far from in terms of songwriting. So, if you are a interested in listening to a band that at least takes you somewhere else than just the feeling of a murky old venue or the smell of beer and another failed night out, that suggest other places and maybe take you on a little escape from your everyday record collecting do-it-by-the-numbers square and mapped out world - check out Tid.
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
To, as always, slowly write a new album and record it when the time is right. At the moment we are getting our other band MCC [Magna Carta Cartel] ready for live shows, and along that we will will start preparing for live performances with Tid as well.
Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
You can buy our stuff via our record label - they recently released our first two EP’ on vinyl and CD aswell as our latest ”Fix Idé” in the same manner. There is of course a world-distribution as well, so any odd record shop should be just fine for buying or ordering our stuff - but for the ones reading this and thus staring into a screen - here you go: http://freighttrain.se/search/tid
