Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Vesperia began as a side project to fuel some musical ambitions at the time - namely my interest in black metal. We had quite a few lineup changes over the years, which hugely impacted the sound of the band itself and made it evolve into the epic style we now play. As for our members, Casey and I (Morgan) have been around since the beginning of the band. We both played in local bands to our area and we were able to grow together as musicians as far as interests and style were concerned. Over the last two years, we acquired Frankie Caracci, who is arguably the most talented guitarist and musician I have come into contact with. He previously played for a Toronto death metal group called Abyssal Throne. Since he joined, he has expanded our musical territory, pushed us all to become better musicians and has taken Vesperia to the next level as a band. Our newest member, Dylan Gowan has a background in jazz, and with heavy influence from his father (who is the one and only Lawrence Gowan), he has acquired a massive background in many styles of music and live experience.

How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
Our current style would be within the territory of epic metal, death metal and orchestral metal. We play a style now that bridges so many characteristics, while displaying a massive array of dynamics. We can only simply call it 'epic death metal'. Though as far as influences are concerned; we love to cite bands such as Septicflesh, Arcturus, Wintersun, Fleshgod Apocalypse, the Black Dahlia Murder and so forth.

Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
I would strongly urge any metalhead or music fan to check us out because I feel like we are displaying a different take on an otherwise widely covered area of extreme metal. We have something that can appeal to anyone who is a fan of the genre throughout our current repertoire and back catalogue.

What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
We have released two full length albums - Voyage from Vinland (2011) & An Olden Tale (2013). Both have had an increasing level of success worldwide as we have been shipping a lot to quite a few countries we never dreamt our music would ever reach.

Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
As a matter of fact, we play very frequently! We are currently on a cross-Canada tour from coast to coast. We just wrapped up a 10 day eastern Canadian tour and now we are playing some sporadic dates across central and southern Ontario. Next week we will begin the western leg of the tour, playing all the way out to Armstrong Metalfest in BC and then we tour all the way home. After that, we will be flying overseas to play at Wacken Open Air. So pretty busy!
The count has been growing over the years, but for 2015 we expect we will be playing in the neighbourhood of 80-100 shows around North America alone.

What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
What we have accomplished in our tenure has been completely self-financed. We take Vesperia extremely seriously and we do not compromise with anything we do. We are becoming increasingly active with a very rigid tour schedule and a compounding weekly growth rate that is expanding across North America, into the UK, Europe, South America, Australia and the Middle East. Our music itself is a unique blend of extreme metal styles that appeals to a broader range of metal fans, especially those in the larger European markets, making accessibility in those markets much smoother and viable for us going forward.

What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
We plan on finishing our Canadian tour while promoting our new EP 'The Iron Tempests', playing at Wacken Open Air and then beginning work on our 3rd full length album during August & September. There is much more to be unveiled going forward from there!
