Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Virtual Symmetry was born as a solo project by an idea of Valerio Villa, founder and guitarist of the band, in 2009. In that year he began writing the first raw structures of what would have been our debut album as a band 'MESSAGE FROM ETERNITY' in 2016. He then met Alessandro (bass guitar), who he began arranging the rhytmic section of the tracks with for some years, before randomly meeting Davide (drums) in a bar and asking him to jam for fun together. This lead Valerio to the decision of creating a full band and realising his dream with musicians who have his same desires and the abilities to make it finally come true. The line-up was completed between 2012 and 2014 when, shuffling through videos on the internet, Valerio found Marco Pastorino (singer and guitarist in Temperance and Secret Sphere) and Mark Bravi (22-year-old keyboardist and arranger), whom he reached his first main goal with with the production of a full-length album.

How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
Vitrual Symmetry is a progressive metal project, but has various influences that go from ambient, to fusion, pop and contemporary music, and it's characterized by epic suites rich of contrasting elements like wide open, but often sharp, cinematic atmospheres and composed with a particular attention to balance between melody and technique maintaining the aim to lead the listener through a dynamic and emotional journey.
They defined us "Art Prog Rock", "Melodic Progressive Metal", but we like to define ourselves a "Cinematic Progressive" band.
Our style is influenced by Dream Theater, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Steve Vai, Shadow Gallery, Fates Warning and other artists of that area.

Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
Well, this is a tough question! - laughs - if you're searching for a kind of prog metal with futuristic, avant-garde, untypical elements to it, other than classical references, or some music which reminds you of movie soundtracks or just something of emotionally captivating, VIRTUAL SYMMETRY is the band you are looking for.

What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
This being our debut album, is the only record we have in our discography at the moment. We produced a couple videoclips for the tracks "Soul's Reflections", with Ruben Paganelli (pianist and saxophonist in the closing track) on keyboards, and "Pegasus", with the official current line-up, other than releasing a lyrics video for our highly-requested track 'Program Error (We are the Virus)' which features a couple solos of the legendary Jordan Rudess.
Our debut album has received an average rating of 8.5/10 from all kinds of progressive, rock and metal magazines, webzines or forums, other than appearing as the best release of March on MetalHammer.it, being positively reviewed on Rock Hard and being part of the 11 best new releases of 2016.
Every one of those who got the album sometimes writes us that the CD is still being played in their stereo after almost 7 months after its release... this is overwhelming for us!

Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
We played a few live shows in 2015, like the ones on June and July as opening act for Dream Theater with Evergrey on the italian dates of their 30th ANNIVERSARY WORLD TOUR, which surely gave us more determination and incitement about the completion of the album and its recording.
At the moment we are on hiatus, as we're planning our future activity and we're in the middle of the pre-production process of our upcoming EP, which we can't give much information about, but will be worth the wait for sure.

What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
Well, we are open to any kind of review, interview, collaboration or generical musical work with anyone. Both as a full band and as single artists, for example I took part in a project with indian seaboardist Kashyap Iyengar, played in some split-screen covers with Dr. Viossy and Martino Garattoni (bassist of Ancient Bards), and this kind of experiences give us a wider range of followers and help us reach more people with our music, which aims to let others know that, contrary to what everyone is saying lately, TRUE MUSIC IS NOT DEAD, the one that gives emotions, makes you feel better when you're down, helps you relax when you're tired, talks directly to your heart and soul, rather than just passing through your ears in form of soundwaves.
I think this should be considered by labels and magazines, because only they have the POWER to share publicly these messages and in a world dominated by bands and artists made from the same mold just for the pleasure of the average listener, to really make a change in the music industry, bringing back the original meaning of music and its purity.

What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
We now are cooperating with the Promotional Company GRAND SOUNDS for the research of a label for our next albums, live dates and tons of other stuff, and we are working on our new record, which is going to be a 30-minute-long EP with something very experimental in it, without a lack of a pure Virtual Symmetry vibe to it.
This means we hope to be soon working more as a band by playing live for our fans and those who wish to listen to new music and by producing newer and newer material to be shared with every supporter of the genre around the world.

Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
You can listen to some of the tracks on our official website WWW.VIRTUALSYMMETRY.COM, on our Official Facebook Page, or on our Youtube Account, other than having a listen of the full record for free on Spotify.
Instead, if you wish to support our work and the band, you can buy 'MESSAGE FROM ETERNITY' on iTunes, Google Play Store, Amazon Music, Amazon.com, and other online distributors of music of all kind.
