Please tell us a few words about the new release, about the music on it as a whole or a few words on each track in part. How are you happy with the final release?
Since we all bust ass to make ends meet, the album took all of our life and soul to complete and we couldn’t be happier. Everyone has a voice and everyone expresses what’s on their mind within the constraints of their instrument to create one working unit. Considering all the limitations on resources during the recording process, the album came out crisp and clear. Everything has balls.
How would you describe/label the music on it? Does it sounds like anything we might have heard before?
A mix of Black/Death Metal with a melodic edge and a Cosmic Horror theme. Kinda sounds like the bastard child of Bal-Sagoth and Obscura.
Where was it recorded and how much time did it take you to record it? Any interesting stories from the recording/producing the material?
All of the tracking was done in our guitarist Woody’s broke ass basement. The drums were recorded one week in January at below freezing temperatures. We had mice, we had failed gear, we had fucked up takes due to computer shit, we had frustration. In the end we pushed past all the hardships and let it flow into the takes. Our bassist Ben produced mixed and mastered the whole thing, managing to get a good original sound with a lot of flavor packed in. It took about nine months total to complete the whole process.
What can you tell us about the cover artwork? Is there a link between the artwork and the lyrics? What are the topics of your lyrics?
Our good friend Eric at Gourmetal Art gave us another badass album cover. There’s an invading cube/evil squid that’s just roasting and laying waste to the pathetic world we live in. The lyrics we write range from themes of false realities, conspiracies, and extraterrestrial life to concepts about the nature of right and wrong and oppression.
What do you expect to gain through this release? What are the band's aims at the moment?
The bottom line is that we make music for the love. We all have these gifts and we need to express ourselves through them. Mankind isn’t supposed to be enslaved like it is today. People are put into specific roles from birth by social constructs, and it isn’t right to force us like animals to sacrifice our lives so that more people can capitalize on your existence. If we can continue to express ourselves and try and make that our main lifestyle, that would be a completed goal of the band. We plan on recording more music, playing more shows, and hanging out with all friends, old and future.
Is there a special format the material is released in? Or is it released in multiple formats? How many copies were pressed?
It is coming out on Digital MP3, CD, and we plan on doing a tape and vinyl pressing at some point.
Where and how will you promote this new release?
We have a tour coming up in November that will take us to Mexico and back with our buds in Sarcalagos from Portland.
