Please tell us a few words about the new release, about the music on it as a whole or a few words on each track in part. How are you happy with the final release?
I am extremely happy with the new release, it is recorded a bit cleaner and less raw this time, but still maintains the dense atmosphere that I was going for.
"Pioneers" is a track dedicated to my great-grandfather and his voyage to North America from Norway in the early 1900's, the cover painting by Czech artist Moonroot is also inspired by this story.  Pretty traditional riff based black metal.
"Magickal Rites of the Ancient Aryan Tomes" is inspired by the works of Helena Blavatsky and Aleister Crowley and their individual treks to the mystic occult library in the Himalayas.
"Satan Delights in Darkness and Blackness..." is a fairly traditional black metal song, but with a ritual outro.
"Islamic State of Death" was written and recorded on November 13th, 2015 in a state of fury during/after the ISIL attacks on Paris.  The songs message is self-explanatory.
"Raincoast Necromancer (Brother XII) is a trippy black metal ode to the Theosophic offshoot mystic Brother Twelve and his time on the West Coast of my native British Columbia.  I really enjoyed the outro riff (and I rode it for quite a while!)
"N.W.O." is a raw, organic cover song of the Ministry classic.  No samples or loops etc are used (as in all Avitas recordings) to provide contrast to the industrial mechanical original.
"Midnight Bonfires to the Lunar Eclipse" is a pagan black metal dirge that was kind of inspired by the campfire songs of the old pioneer days, but with an occult leaning.  On the CD and Bandcamp digital album I also included the acoustic version of the song as a bonus track.

How would you describe/label the music on it? Does it sounds like anything we might have heard before?
"Pioneers" is a mix of raw, pagan and traditional old-school black metal with a psychedelic undertone and occult lyrical topics.  Lyrically, Avitas has always been Anti-Abrahamic faiths as well.  It has been compared to the Scandinavian 2nd wave black metal sound of the early 90's and loosely to bands from the "Western Black Metal" scene of the Black Twilight Circle (Volahn, Arizmenda etc.) of California and some Mexican/South American raw black metal bands.

Where was it recorded and how much time did it take you to record it? Any interesting stories from the recording/producing the material?
The "Pioneers" album was recorded in Odin's Den Studio in Kelowna, which is my home studio, and it took just over two weeks to record.  I was a bit possessed during that time as I recorded the guitars, vocals, bass, and drums in that time.  The mixing and editing process took about a month.  I guess the main story would be that I started recording on November 11th, Remembrance Day here in Canada, and then two days later ISIS/ISIL attacked Paris.  This lit the fire of hatred in my heart towards these subhuman savages, and from then on I was a man possessed to finish the recording!  As always, there was no metronome or click tracks, and nobody has ever accused Avitas or Kabexnuv of being "tight!"  This is the pure way I prefer the music to sound, I am dead sick of all this perfectly produced and executed "black metal" these days.  Most of it sounds like sheen glossy death metal. Meh. I'd rather be sloppy and use full unedited drum takes than looped/triggered/computerized "look at me shred" metal.

What can you tell us about the cover artwork? Is there a link between the artwork and the lyrics? What are the topics of your lyrics?
The cover is a full wrap-around painting for the mini-LP style slip-sleeve CD release painted on canvas by Vojtech Moonroot, he also designed the new logos for Avitas and my side project Kabexnuv.  The link to the artwork to the music has been mentioned earlier, and the lyrical topics range from ancestral history, Necromancy/Black Magic, and the war against the Jihadis and their Khilafah.

What do you expect to gain through this release? What are the band's aims at the moment?
Avitas aims to bring knowledge and awareness of the alternate doctrines of the occult, and to stop the destructive tyranny of the Abrahamic faiths and their empty-headed followers.  Avitas stands for the freedom and power of the individual will.

Is there a special format the material is released in? Or is it released in multiple formats? How many copies were pressed?
There is a limited edition CD of 300 copies worldwide coming out on March 4th from Bud Metal Records in North America, and a European/World release on March 11th with distribution from PHD (Plastic Head Distribution).

Where and how will you promote this new release?
Promotion is mostly done through underground websites and blogs like Pest Webzine, and through old-fashioned trades with other independent distros, the mainstream is no place for Avitas!

Where can we order it from?
There is currently a pre-sell special (available until March 4/2016) for Avitas "Pioneers" on the Bandcamp page where you get a free copy of the 2014 Avitas release "Northern Ghosts" CD with the presell for "Pioneers," and the price is only $7 Canadian dollars, which is insanely cheap for European and American buyers as our dollar is very low! It can be pre-ordered here:
It can also be pre-ordered from PHD here:
Over the coming months it will be available on various underground distros as well, if they don't have it please ask them to get it! Krieg!!
