Review:
Far away from our expertise zone (Extreme Metal), Bodyguerra's new album Fire & Soul reached our review desk, so here are a few words on it in case you're in for some softer music than what you're usually devouring. Although the name suggests a Spanish band, Bodyguerra is actually hailing from Germany and is the brainchild of Guido Stoecker, a guitar instructor with extensive experience on the local Rock scene who founded the band in 2010 with likeminded musicians. The new album is made of 11 tracks (plus 2 bonuses) of female-fronted melodic and modern Hard Rock with serious elements from Blues Rock or Classic Rock (a la AC/DC at times), sometimes more powerful then expected, sometimes more mellow, but I guess that's a good thing, it's a varied material that won't bore the audience for sure. Pretty catchy material, that in my opinion is highlighted by the classy guitarwork, and that's pretty obvious and expected since the band was founded and lead by a guitarist. The CD released by Fastball Music comes with a 16 pages booklet featuring all lyrics (English written lyrics). Personal favorite track: Steelheart, where I feel both the instrumental part and the female vocals shine the same way (same level), and also the composition is damn catchy.
