Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Darkyra began as my solo project under the name Darkyra Black. It involved session musicians from various parts of Europe and Brazil. Shortly after the second album Fool was produced, the project converted to a Australian based band and the first shows took place in our hometown Perth.

How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
Our style is a blend of Symphonic metal and progressive rock which sometimes has a gothic, cinematic feel. Influences vary from Nightwish, Edenbridge, Kamelot, Kate Bush, Iron Maiden, Dio and many more

Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
The music although some of it can be considered metal is aimed at a broader audience. Metal heads that appreciate something a little more left of field from your typical symphonic metal should find it appealing. As with all themed albums they should be listened from start to finish to understand the whole story behind the music.

What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
Two albums have been released so far
Dragon Tears & Fool.
We are working on album 3 now.

Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
We started live shows April last year. We've had to take a little break while I recover from breast cancer treatment. We've taken this time to start putting together our next album. We will resume performing after February next year.

What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
We're a little different from the usual symphonic bands. We don't try to follow any trends or mimic what and how every other band does.

What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
Release our third album, re schedule the tour we had to cancel last April, hopefully get invited to play some festivals. We've recently secured a label deal for the re release of Fool and Dragon Tears so hopefully this will bring some new opportunities our way.

Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
Keep checking our website for purchase details and links to our music
New distribution links will be posted soon once our labels have finalised new details. For now you should still be able to find us on iTunes, Spotify, Bandcamp and Cd Baby.
