Please tell us about the story of your band and its members.
The history of the band started in autumn 2008, when members of the band called Maska Loki decided to disembody the band and create a new project. The membership was completed with new people and band was named Defiant. The birthday of the band is 23th of October 2008. During the whole existence of the project, its membership was constantly changing.
The members of the band are not afraid of experiments and are constantly searching for the new musical ideas.
The subjects of the songs are quite diverse. In the process of developing the group stepped away from the fantasy-mythological themes, which are traditional for power metal, shifting the focus to social themes.

How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
The band plays melodic heavy-power metal with an active use of elements from other genres. It’s a harmonic combination of creative energy and melody. There is much more energy on this release, and no less melody, that’s for sure.
The sources of inspiration were always constantly changing. To mention some of the bands that have inspired us – Helloween, Stratovarius, Symphony X, Kamelot, Nightwish, Rage.

Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
We think, that our product is quite original and is worth checking. Of course, similarities can be found, but in general – it is very hard to find a group with the same or similar style. Also, the material is really diverse, and, no matter what music you exactly prefer, every metalhead will like a couple of tunes. Maybe, only really extreme music lovers won’t find anything for themselves.

What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
At the moment we have 3 7"s (2010, 2011, 2015), 1 single (2014) and one LP (2012). They were received positively, but lyrics were in Russian, and that fact limited the territory of spreading. The amount of fans is growing; there is positive and negative feedback, in our opinion it is a mark of moving in the right direction.

Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
We try to keep ourselves in the concert shape as much as possible. We give small club gigs, as well as perform on big fests. Unfortunately, there are certain troubles with the concerts because of the difficult situation in our country – in general, and specifically with the music industry. We try to perform 1-2 times in a month, but during last 4 or 5 month we were on the break and focused on the release. After it is done we are going to continue touring.

What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
We are original and hardly comparable. Interested – because of the same reason why we recommend buying our album. We never stop experimenting with our music, trying something new, but at the same time we try not to go out of the scopes of our style and sound.

What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
Not to rest on our laurels, that’s for sure. In the nearest future we are reissuing of the old material, with the new members of the band and English lyrics, then the Ukrainian tour is on the list, Eastern European tour, then next release... Our goal is to take our art out of the Ukraine, to gain a worldwide recognition.

Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
The label called “Ferrrum” is releasing the album in digital ways and on the CDs. Digital version will be available on the iTunes and other services, distributors will sell the CDs, but we can say nothing exact about them at the moment.
Our stuff, unfortunately, still isn’t distributed properly. It can be bought on our shows or ordered from our management.
