Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
ENVINYA was already founded in 2006. But it took quite a long time until the first EP was released. The EP was called “Beyond the Dark” and was released in 2010 without a label. Due to the success of the demo, ENVINYA got the deal with Massacre Records in 2012. The debut “Inner Silence” was then released in 2013. During the recording process the work with our singer Natalie got more and more complicated so that she left the band just before the CD was released. Together with Massacre Records we decided to release it anyway. But it was a tough situation for us because we couldn´t support our CD live. After round about 3 month we found our new singer Mery Diaz who fits better than Natalie to our music. Unfortunately our lead guitarist left the band just after Mery has entered the ENVINYA ship. We found Dietmar as our new guitarist but he left the band after the new album was recorded. Got a déjà vu? The new album “The Harvester” will be released on July 15th via STF-Records and everything is fine. We have a new guitarist called Mike so that our band members look like follow:
Enrico Jung – drums (very old member)
Moni Strobl – keyboards (very old member)
Thomas Knauer – guitar & vocals (old member)
Lorenz Henger – bass (quite an old member)
Mery Diaz Serano – vocals (quite a new member)
Mike – lead guitar (fresh new member)

How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
I think it is not so easy to describe our style. Of course we do not invent something new but I think our mixture is quite unique. The basic is melodic metal and due to the fact that we have a female singer it sounds a little bit like symphonic metal too. But because of my influences the music we play is much harder. I grew up with bands like Destruction, Kreator, Agent Steel and Dark Angel and all the other old school thrash metal bands. I also love the first waves of death metal especially bands like Death, Benediction and Pestilence. But this is only one side of Envinya. We love to play hard and heavy songs with very nice melodies. So our range is quite wide. You can hear this on our actual album “the harvester”.

Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
I think the metalhead will get very good songs and this is what counts in the end. Look at all the legendary albums like “Master of Puppets”, “Reign in Blood”, “Powerslave” etc. What did they have in common? Good songs. But a small warning to all the metalheads out there. Envinya have to be heard a few times before you will recognize the real quality of the songs. But then I am sure you will like them. … if you like our kind of music. A metalhead who is totally happy with grindcore maybe could find that something is missing in our songs.

What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
We have released the EP “Beyond the Dark” as our first official demo. This brought us a lot of great and very good reviews and as mentioned before the deal with Massacre Records. The EP is only available on our homepage or on our concerts. Our debut “Inner Silence” was released via Massacre Records and got also a lot of good reviews. Furthermore we were under the best one of ten albums in radio stations and magazines in Canada and Spain.

Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
We love to play live and we had some very good shows with bands like Pro Pain, Dante and Tanzwut. We want to make every show to something special because we like the magic between us and our fans. By the way, Mery is born for the stage. Because of her Spanish blood she is a very emotional and powerful singer. It would be a huge waste of talent if we would only play in a dark and lonely rehearsal  room…

What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
What people should know is that we are a female fronted band who can´t hardly be compared with other bands from this genre. We make our own sound and we are more the trendsetter than the follower. We have a very good singer, we are a very good live-band and we know what is important for us. Music is our passion and we want to share this with our fans. Just listen to our records and I hope you will hear what I mean.

What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
We have just released our second CD and now we are planning our next live gigs.

Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
You will find our CDs on the shop of our homepage and on Amazon. The new album is also available on our label side. On YouTube you can also see our official video to the song Forlorn. Just have a look.
