Please present your label, when and where was it started, who is involved in its activities and what genres are promoted by it.
Hello to everybody, first of all thanks to Pest Zine for spreading the word about Jolly Roger Records. The label started officially in 2008 even if I already owned a distribution/mailorder with this name. I (Antonio Keller) am the only one owner and when I started this adventure my aim was to produce Italian bands singing in Italian. Cause I love bands singing in their mother-tongue and always admired their “courage”…then in my opinion I think Italian language suits perfectly to HM sound and it was a pity some bands singing in Italian were not able to find any label because of this. There are a lot of bands singing in its mother-tongue language, why not Italian too? In Italy unfortunately this is a cultural problem (not only referring to music), where we always see the best in others and not inside us. After only-Italian-lyrics releases in 2008 and part of 2009 then I begun to produce also Italian bands with english lyrics. But Italian bands only, this is my prerogative, hope it’s also a privilege! This choice is referred to the facts expressed before…I believe in Italian HM scene, not only with words! So I proudly produce only Italian bands, publishing new bands as reissues from the past. Italian HM scene it's second to no one because  it has been able to create and build an unique and original sound through the years, remaining true and underground.  As I’m nearly 38 years old of course my preferred genre is tied to old school heavy metal in general, from NWOBHM sound to doom or thrash.

Tell us a few words on each or the most important releases of your label, and which of them are still available for purchase.
Releases are like sons for me, so it’s difficult to say which is most important…anyway, for different reasons I’m very proud of Rosae Crucis “Il re del mondo” (first full  JRR album), Sabotage “Rumore nel Vento” (one of the JRR best-sellers), “Istinto e Rabbia” and “Guarda Dentro Te” (reissues / licenses from Universal), Strana Officina reissues (never released on Cd before…the first Strana Officina mini LP is one of my preferred HM albums of all times). All cd formats are available except for first JRR full album released in 2008 (Rosae Crucis – Il Re del Mondo) which is sold out, while many lp formats are sold out or near to…as very first JRR release (7” split L’impero delle Ombre / Bud Tribe), Sabotage “Rumore nel Vento”, Adramelch “Irae Melanox”, Sacrilege “Demon Woman”. Also all my lp releases are pressed on coloured vinyls limited to 100 copies only…most of these editions are sold out or very few copies still remaining in stock.

What are the most important features you look for in a band that is or has the chance to be signed on your label?
Apart from being Italian it has to have style, the genre is not so important. I don’t look for bands playing like this or that…it would be useless. I look for personality, talent and courage.

How can a band get in touch with you? What should bands know, before submitting their promos for your consideration?
The best way to contact me is by email, on jolly_roger_recordsATaliceDOTcom. It’s always important before sending anything, to contact me privately first. I’m used to ask for a cd-copy, biography and band-picture. Apart of being Italian, no other restrictions of course.

What's the most important thing in the relationship between you and your bands? What is your label offering to its bands?
The most important things are trust, seriousness and confidence between the parts. As label I offer promotion, production, distribution and of course coverage of all costs… also sometimes I organize HM live festivals here in Italy. I don’t ask money to bands, neither I force bands to buy copies! If I decide to support and direct to a certain band it must be only because of music!!! That’s why I prefer quality to quantity, each production deserves the best treatment I can offer.

Is there anything you planned with your label and has not yet been completed?
As I‘m only focused to Italian bands my intent is to produce all best Italian ones…of course this is referred to “underground” scene and I would be very happy if I can realize something with Death SS…also to press vinyl editions of bands as Domine, Doomsword, WhiteSkull would be very cool! Let’s see…anyway I can’t complain…in my catalogue there are albums marketed JRR from bands as Strana Officina, Sabotage, Fiaba, Bud Tribe, Rosae Crucis, Folkstone,, Caronte, Gunfire, Raff…these bands are pretty important and “big” here…hope I can bring em the same visibility also outside Italy.

How does the future looks for your label? Any major projects you would like to share with us?
Future looks good, as since 2008 the label’s growing up and I’m really proud of it. Of course I’m talking always of an underground-label but cannot complain. Hope to keep on releasing high quality bands-albums…for example I’m really satisfied of latest releases out now, as Gunfire “Age of Supremacy” and Raff ‘s self titled album which are having high-rating reviews worldwide and look forward to have out for end October next ones…doomsters Fangtooth with “As we dive into the dark” and I Miti Eterni “Historia Cumae”, ambitious epic metal project from Bruno Masulli (In Aevum Agere) with different languages, as Italian, English, Latin, ancient greek. Of Fangtooth I also realized a videoclip for “Of Flesh and Bolts” track, you can see on this link :
