Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Keychain went through quite a few line-up changes, as well as experimenting different musical styles before finally evolving into how we sound right now. The official line as of 2016 is:

JP LaChapelle - Vocals
Bran Panic - Guitars
Jeff Jenkins - Bass
Cody Taylor - Drums

The singer had a Progressive Rock band called MIRE (, before eventually disbanding and joining Keychain as in 2014.
The drummer comes from a Hard Rock background, having played many shows in Ontario, Canada before joining the band as of 2015.
The bassist is the newest addition to the team, having joined the band in 2016, previously a member of the Brutal Death Metal outfit PALLOR MORTIS (
And finally we have myself - the founding member of KEYCHAIN. I used to play guitar (and sing) in a Black/Death Metal band called BANE (

How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
Our style & sound can be labeled as Nu Metal, and we love it that way. We combine Alternative Rock & Hip Hop with Metal, and are influenced by the bands who defined the Rock/Metal sound in the 90's & 2000's, such as KoRn, Limp Bizkit, Sevendust, Slipknot, Mudvayne, P.O.D., etc. It's what we all grew up on, and what made us who we are today.

Why should a metal-head buy your demos/albums?
One should definitely buy it if he's open to hearing different styles of music. As Heavy as we are, I definitely would not say that we will appeal to the "typical" Metal-Head. If you only listen to Extreme Death & Black Metal, then beware - you have been warned that Keychain might not be for your ears!

What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
Just a few days ago we released our first single "Prime Time", off of our upcoming debut EP called "Breaking Out". It's hard to say if there is a general opinion about it just yet, but we've been getting a lot of love from people all over the world who are nostalgic about the Nu Metal sound. We've gotten message from the USA, South America and even a few from Europe who were really excited to hear more stuff, so it's looking good so far!

Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
We play live all the time. We have a massive 6-week North American Tour coming up, starting from late August up until early October. We'll mainly play in the USA (15 different States), cross country from Florida to California, as well as a few selected Canadian dates as well. We also have a few Open-Air Festivals confirmed for this Summer, all of them are in Canada though. You can check out all our live dates here:

What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
They should know that the Nu Metal Revival is real. It's is happening big time as we speak, and we are not only part of this movement but we are gonna lead the way! It's time to unite and conquer!

What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
We will have 3 music videos, a 6 track EP and a 6-week North American Tour - all that by the end of this year. Once we get back from the road we will go back into writing mode/hibernation (because of the long, cold Canadian winters), and then we'll probably end up back Touring in Spring of 2017, before releasing some more new material, but that's way down the line at this point.
