Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Drangu the Apostate: Monastery Desecration was formed in 2008 by Drangu the Apostate and Desekrator in Komotini, a town in Northern Hellas. We recorded our first demo "Eosforos Over Bethlehem" and released it in winter 2009. Line up changed, Desekrator left, Fornikator, Ektoplasm and Nazoreus joined the band and we participated in some live gigs as support to some other bands as Necrorgasm, Dragon's Lair and more. My moving to Athens caused the line up to change once again, Nazoreus, Ektoplasm and Fornikator could not keep up with the band due to distance issues, so I released some demos by myself ( I'd like to mention an interesting incident that took place during this period, Enceladus joined the band, in "Jehovah 666" and "Pornoreligion" demos, as a vocalist, but later decided to abandon this secular world for the sake of ...god.He became a christian monk). Aphorist and Berserkum joined the band, and with this line up we released our Debut Album, under the title "Militant Atheist". It is an album dedicated to Atheism whereas our older releases were more Anti-christian lyrically themed. "Militant Atheist" lyrics are inspired by well known Atheists like Carl Sagan, Nietzsche, Richard Dawkins, Darwin, Julian the Apostate, Cristopher Hitchens as well as by morbidly perverse excerpts from the Old Testament. In total we have released 11 Demos, a Live Album and our Debut album. We are now on the process of writing new material and rehearsing for our next live, this time in Athens. My musical activity also includes Nekrodaimon (BlackMetalCore/BlackCore Metal-new album coming soon), U.L.V.(Black/Heavy Metal-debut album will be released after many years of preparation), Buubhosh (Death/Grind /Gore metal), Drangu (Metalcore) and my experimental project Dghu. I am also doing music for a documentary about Atheism in Hellas,as well as music for an android game.

How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
Drangu the Apostate: We used the term Irreligious Black Metal or Antichristian Black Metal, but we concluded in Atheist Black Metal due to the lyrical theme and ideology of the band. Musically the demos where more old school Black Metal, in the vein of old Darkthrone, Burzum, Mayhem, even Blasphemy and Beherit! "Militant Atheist" is a more "intelligent" album, I could say a marriage of the first and second wave of Black Metal, mostly raw but some times atmospheric and technical, with some Heavy, Thrash and Death Metal passages in the songs.

Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
Drangu the Apostate: First of all, we have our demos and our album uploaded for free digital download on our official blog. So anyone can listen to it for free and judge if he wants to keep it or delete it. And second we believe we have made a very good Black Metal album ("Militant Atheist") in terms of music and our Mixmaster Ogrego has done an excellent job mixing and mastering it, so we think it's worth a listen! Also the lyrics this time are what lyrics should be, thoughts and facts by the most well known Atheist Scientists, Philosophers and a track exclusively with excerpts from the Old Testament which ended up being the most "evil" track we ever made!

What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
Drangu the Apostate: We have released 11 Demos, a Live Album and our Debut Album, all downloadable for free in our official blog, because we do what we do cause we love it, and not for money. That goes for all the bands and projects i participate in.

Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
Drangu the Apostate: We have done three Lives in Northern Hellas with bands like Necrorgasm, Dragon's Lair, Schizogony, Moshpill, Ihorypansi and more. We are currently rehearsing for our next live which will be this time in Athens!

What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
Drangu the Apostate: labels/zines/promoters should know that we are a band that do what we think we must do. We don't expect anyone to help us, so we do everything on our own. We don't care about profit from our music,(We don't make music for profit) and that's why we have everything for free on the internet. If this is deemed unporfessional, we dont care. We deem what we do TRUE!

What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
Drangu the Apostate: Next live is our first goal, and after that we have plans for our second album which will focus on the evil that religions do, in a way, never experienced before! And finally, I want to thank everyone that supported and helped us.
