Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Actually, the band started out in 2010 being a cover group that also played some originals. It was the most traditional way one could imagine: a few guys jamming out in the basement with cheap equipment.
After a few shows in 2012 the decision was made to go for an all original band and a new name was found in Varus.
Our line-up consists of a main (guttural) vocalist playing occasional keyboard parts and doing the whole orchestration work, two guitarists and a drummer. Most of us have known each other from different bands or way back before we've even made music.

How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
We are playing a combination of symphonc, folk, melodic death and black metal elements. The main vocals are mostly guttural, wheras choruses tend to have clean backing vocals. Our personal description of this would be "Epic Bombast Metal", an over-the-top label with a bit of tongue-in-cheek humor.
The lyrics are changing in between German for the dark/brutal and English for more epic/melodic songs.
Of course influences are very different for each band member but I think the main ones are groups like Turisas, Ensiferum, Wintersun, Belphegor and Carach Angren. The list could go on and on.
We're always looking for new elements, as the musical spectrum is just too good and big to ignore certain aspects. Our music is also open to lots of classical stuff or hard rock.

Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
It's music made from the deepest of our hearts and offers something for everyone. Some will find their favorites in the more black/death side and some in the orchestral elements.

What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
The debut album "Till The Sun Rises" was brought out in 2014 and has been well received so far. As music is always a matter of taste, we know that it might not be the liking of everyone.

Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
Yes, we've been playing quite a few shows mostly around nothern Bavaria (Franconia) but also places like Leipzig or Erfurt. I'd say, it's around 5-10 shows a year but we're striving to get some more over the next year. There's already gigs planned.

What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
We're devoted to always giving the best we can. The music is made with passion and a lot of time, of course. Like said in a previous answer, there's something for everyone in our songs - be it the dark or epic side.

What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
Currently, our plans are to play more shows like we've done in the past. This is especially important as we're working on the second album which is a big step up and more mature than the first one.
Moreover, we'd love to get our music out to lots of people all over the world.

Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
